Combines More AGCO customers down the drain

I'm only part time hobby farmer with 88A so Agco is not interested in me.That being said,it seems that buisness school has warped alot of peoples minds as to how to be in business.I own a transportation business and customers seem to be a vital part of the equation.What do I knowIJ

Correct me if I am wrong but I dont recall seeing your name on this board before now when you have a shovelful of dirt you want to sling.

Better check again, and obviously the truth hurts. Plus it's no shovel of dirt slinging from me. Nearly all the AGCO equipment is off my farm.

Mike i do not know who you are and do not like to get negative but i run the shop at flanagan and i would like you to ask any of our customers about our bike repair shop, and it is ran by a guy who is in his 40's and grew up at that dealership. We service nearly 200 combines and about that many planters and uncountable tractors. We have customers that are 2 hours away that want us to come service there machinery some of who post on this board regulary. Do not start prodding into something that you do not know anything about. Our dealership is strong and continues to grow. I have always been told it is not the size, but how you use it.

Just don't understand how you shut what appeared to be a large dealer down and expect the neighbors to retain all that business without some improvements before hand.

If AGCO's requirements were so stringent I don't think they would have let another dealer open about 20 miles from me a couple years ago. I just did a dealer search on AGCO's website showing 11, yes eleven dealers in 50 miles from me. The count rises to 13 dealers in 50 mi. if you include dealers that only handle short lines such as White planters or New Idea. It came up with a total of 20 dealers in 71 miles. JJ

You must be in an exceptional area. My closest dealer is 8 miles, then I have 2 that are 20-25 miles and the next closest would have to be in the 75+ mile range. 3 of these nearby are AGCO only the other sells another major brand and doesn't push AGCO as much as the other. Another dealer mentioned that he had customers 2 hours away, thats a pretty said state of affairs to think those customers have to drive that far for parts and service.

I would think that Flanagans would be licking there chops. I am sure these people drive orange and silver for a reason.There was a Red dealer right beside the auction yesterday.Flanagans couldnt have been 10 miles down the road,that isnt bad to drive to a dealer.If they get good service from them I am sure they will stay with what they have.KSR was alot farther then Flanagans. By the way Slims was that 8070 across the road for saleIJIJ

I guess I am missing something here! In Australia it most AGCO dealers are any where from 50 to 100 plus kilometres apart yet for the most part AGCO have kept their customers. This is despite some pretty bad decisions in the past but which AGCO now seems to be starting to recognise their problems and starting to rebuild. All companies have their day and sooner or later they go downhill but the well run ones are usually able to recognise their problems and rebuild. When a company appears invunerable and at the top of the heap have a look for the termites in the basement. You will usually find them. And I am not talking about AGCO here! So is AGCO, taking all their various brand lines into account, losing market share and going downhill or are they increasing market share and profits but in different fields to what they have in the past. That is all the big corporations are interested in. At times it is nasty and brutal and Americans claim it as their own. It is called Capitalism!
