Your machine should not loose 100 rpm under no load conditions. There are two causes for power loss. Engine not producing enough or too much machine drag. Does the loss come with header engaugedIJ Can you pull the chopper belt with moderate effort (engine off). You are testing for a bad bearing or walker wood block problem. The sickle can be a source of drag on the head. Check the fuel shut-off near tank. The valve can be plugged. Do you have a boost gaugeIJ Does it double from 2550 no-load to 2350 full loadIJ Hold off on bar and concave purchase. Please update with questions or comments Doug

I had the same problem with my F2 earlier this year I had to replace the fuel injectors. The motor works fine now with plenty of power

Thanks for the ideas. I Checked the shut off valve, I've had that problem before. I got into a different variety of bean and am getting along better. I still don't seem to have enough power though. I'll have to check out some of the other tomorrow. You can almost feel the difference in the machine as the beans enter the cylinder at the end and as the clean out at the other end. The concave has never been replaced the bar have been and turned also.

One variety took more power to thresh for us. very dry conditions caused the bean stems to become brittle and were easily pulverized by the cylinder. I had the same condition as a factory rotor in our M3.

no power without exhaust smokeIJ fuel restriction or fuel shut off device problems. low power with smokeIJ You have cyl. bars or machine taking too much power; check the leading edge of the bars in from the side about 4 inches and compare to the very outside. If there is a big difference they are the problem... or if you have quite a bit of black smoke check the large plug UNDER the intake manifold. I have seen a few of these loosen and back out. This will dump all your boost and reduce hp to about half.

I checked the plug that tbran suggested and it was ok. The main machine turns over easy by hand, and I can turn the head while it is still connected to the combine with little effort using a wrench. I haven't opened the panel above the cylinder to check the bars. I'm down to the last 40 acres of beans and 30 of corn. I think I'll just tough it out till I'm done and start rechecking everything again. Thanks for the help, I've run this machine for 9 years and it still throws me some surprizes. Thanks again

When experiencing a power loss in a diesel engine on these combines, please check your harmonic balancer. I had one that was wrong from the factory and when they timed the motor on it there was no horsepower. After years of complaining to dealer they finally took it to the shop to do a complete fuel system check and found that it was injecting fuel too early. Anyway timing is critcal to power developement.
