Combines moving a hugger

last Aug, I moved a black 4-38" head from Jeffersonville, Ohio to Pa. We took off the snouts, tied head side to side pulling fore and aft as well. Used 4 chains and binders, put snouts in pickup bed. About the only thing you can get a good grip on on a corn head is main back beam of frame. We did not stand head up. Hauled it flat. Head hauled well, but a head and 20' trailer were border line of to much for a 1500 Dodge with small engine, automatic trans, and the ridges in western Pa, and the little bit of WVa.

Two years ago moved our 8 row hugger from far west KS to our place 3 1_2 hrs away, we took the snouts off mainly because our header trailer sets the header facing the opposite of most to where they would have been sticking out to oncoming traffic. Our trailer is for our 30' header, but that corn head felt like it weighed more pulling anyway. Not sure how we tied it on but roads weren't bad anyway.
