Combines N 5 Engine Block with hole

If all of the working part of the combine is in good shape then $7000Cdn isn't bad. The Cummins retro-fit is nice but 2 to 3 times the cost of a good used or rebuilt 670I. I would personally look at finding the 670I_Ambac system(1982 or newer)Those are the N's that are still running without the hole in the block. I have an 82 N6 that is still strong, but did do the underhaul @ 3100hrs. Colfax Tractor Parts, Colfax,IA has several N5_6's with Running engines. Engines can be bought for under $5000US. Area code 515. They also have a complete N7 with a broken clutch cross shaft for $10,000US no heads. I have pictures of it if you want.

I INSTAllED AN C SERIES CUMMINS IN MY N6, IT WAS A lITTlE PRICEY BUT IT REAllY MADE A MACHINE OUT OF IT. I'VE BEEN RUNNING IT FOR 16 YEARS. THE CUMMINS FOR 10 YEARS. MOST OF THE N'S ARE GONE IN THIS AREA, AND SOME THINK I'M NUTS, BUT IT'S STIll A HECK OF A GOOD MACHINE. I JUST FOUND THIS SIGHT AND AM CONSIDERING HYPERING MY N AND RUNNING IT MUCH lONGER. I WOUlD AlSO CONSIDER THE 855 CUMMINS CONVERSION. THEY CAN BE AQUIRED A lOT CHEAPER. PERSONAllY I DONT THINK THE 670 HAD ENOUGH HORSEPOWER OR lOW END TORQUE. THE MOTOR AND IT'S HORSEPOWER ARE WHY I'VE STIll GOT MINE. IT MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE.
