Combines N 5 hydro belt and cage covers

I'd like to know the right procedure for these belt changes also, for my '84 N6. Does not look to easy.

Replacing the hydro belt and header clutch to pivot shaft drive belt are relatively easy.First remove lH main drive belt shield,lH access panel under main drive sheave,and front access screen under cab,then loosen and remove rubber snubber and loosen main drive belt idler spring and remove main drive belt. Most all machines of the "N" vintage have a piece of pipe above the lH mainshaft. We use a small piece of chain around that piece of pipe and then use a come-a-long attached to chain and wrap come-a-long cable around lH mainshaft between hyd. piston and taper hub of hydro sheave. Now before installing the come-a-long you need to see if the carriage bolts are installed from the outside of the machine inward.This will allow you to remove bolts and change belts without having to remove outer main drive sheave. If bolts are installed from inside out with the nuts to the outside you will need to remove maindrive sheave to gain access to nuts.(Remember to turn bolts around for future removal.)After installing the come-a-long on lH mainshaft and removing carriage bolts,take some weight off of shaft and pull outward on lH mainshaft. If lH main drive sheave is still on shaft make sure you have a second person to help pull shaft left far enough to slip new hydro belt and header clutch to pivot shaft belt into place. Then position clutch discs so they line up with drive pins and push lH mainshaft back into position reinstalling carriage bolts so nuts are on the inside. If you had to remove lH main drive sheave to remove carriage bolts then lH mainshaft will be pretty well balanced when sliding to the left. If we need to remove lH mainshft then we will remove lH main drive sheave and lower shaft to ground with come-a-long. Check inner spherical bearing on lH mainshaft and replace if it has been awhile since it has been renewed.(If removing lH main drive sheave we always use Grn 8 bolts when pushing sheave off of taper hub,this elminates the chance of breaking Grn5 bolt off in pusher hole. Also,clean and lubricate pusher holes.) Hyper Harvest II (P.S. Sounds complicated but it is really simple.)

We use them all the time for loosening idlers to take belts off,lH mainshaft removal,hydro removal,rotor gearbox removal,etc.... Hyper Harvest II

There was a kit they called spring wheat kit. The kit was panels that would secure to the helical nuts just behind concave and then one just to left of left concave arm. These are likely shown in parts manual. I would get the far right one next to right concave arm and one for each side of left concave arm. These covers prevent material from exiting cage at these points thus preventing the bridging you could be seeing. They needed to come out with this kit to prevent cage sweep plugging in these areas.
