Checked the tips section and have some questions. Does this high-low cylinder work well in all crops as I raise milo and wheat as well as corn and soybeansIJ How much improvement can I expectIJ What is a factory helical line up kitIJ At first glance, I did not fully understand x and o's on the diagram. Can you explain furtherIJ Thanks for your help.
Per hyper, yes. The line up kit takes the helicals which were designed and installed by someone who was evidently intoxicated, and makes them one smooth auger type complete line from right to left. Very similar to current machines although new helicals are channel instead of rectanular in shape. Requires drilling of two holes I beleive. If one is installing these bars one can reverse several of the old ones to get a new edge. If you are stacking them you will need to do some engineering to avoid having to buy two kits. locating a salvadge machine with a kit would be a traveling job because no one knows what you would be talking about. Part of the Gleaner secret service department..
Thanks for your advice but I'm putting it back together the way it was. I don't have the time or the money to experiment. I'm guessing, but I think the OEM cylinder design is probably a compromise so that the combine works in a variety of crops in a variety of conditions. Modifications probably work for specific things but might miserbly fail in others.
