Combines N series throat styles

The conventional and rotary heads are enough different (offset throat, offset auger flighting and corresponding odd-length drive connections) that you will want to find a rotary head for a rotary combine. There is a serial number break from early to late (i.e., Series III) that they changed the cradle plate on the top of feederhouse. I'm not sure how difficult it is to modify the head for newer_older compatibility, but all of these are old enough you should be able to find a matching head for your combine at a reasonable price. Some people get a newer style feeder housing from a salvage machine and mount it to the older N's so they will work with the newer style heads.
