we have an R5 and i changed them this last year.if you remove the rear dist auger(1 belt and 6 bolts)you will have lots of room from in behind the cage(in the engine compartment).sure beats doing it from the bottom. our dealer did not say anything about lock tight(does not mean that it is not a good idea). best of luck

If you can drop a pencil end on down thru the accelerator rolls, renew them! Good a.c's are the key to good bin samples and negligible losses over the sieves. We find they will wear more in the centre despite our best efforts at to even the spread of the threshed material. We have swopped sections to get a bit more wear out out of them on a couple of occasions. To change the sections on the a.c's, we toss a large sheet of heavy ply on to the top sieve and then I send Rolf in to replace them! Cheers! [ Rolf's Old Man.]

Good question! Sorry I can't give an accurate answer but wear rates appear to be affected by the type of crop ie. lentils with their sharper edges on the seed leads to higher wear rates. I think, from experience that roughly 2000 tonnes of lentils plus, say 3-4000 tonnes of wheat thru the machine [ N7- R62 ] would need new ac. roll sections. Just wheat _ barley would be a lot higher tonnages. We have replaced the rubber sections with full width folded stainless steel scalloped flutes that are made here in Oz. They just bolt on like the standard rubber sections. They work quite well but ours need a couple of very minor changes to bring them up to the same performance as the rubber flutes. Have used these for 2 seasons. [ Number 3 season was a full scale drought and we did not harvest anything at all. Just went for a scenic drive across the 2400 acres and then put her away! ] I hope somebody else on the site can provide better info on performance and price, USA, on the accelerator rolls than this. Cheers!
