Combines N6 feeder house pivot shaft

John, It sounds like you have the wrong hub for your machine. Slip clutch area and pivot shaft have been changed several times over the years. Did you get the same style slip clutch jawsIJ Early serial numbers had slip cltch teeth close together and later style had less teeth and were more flat. later style also had different length hub to mount sheave. Check your serial number and make sure you didn't get newer parts than what your combine takes. Major change in shaft and clutch took place N5 3001 and up,and N6 3501 and up. Hyper Harvest II

Serial n is 7415, it is an '84. The hub that came off had four holes for the clutch ring just like the one I replaced it with. The clutch teeth do have the flat top to them. The hub was cupped on the backside and the washers were the same also. Replaced with used hub that showed little wear and new washers Don't know if it matters but last season the clutch seemed to get loose on its own, maybe this is when the smaller ring broke. John

John, I suppose it is possible to have shaft move in bearing. Normally both bearings are loctited to shaft. If the slip clutch being rattled loosened the bearing on the shaft and it did move to the left you should be able to tell by looking at the bearing on the lH side of the feeder house pivot shaft to see if it is flush or even protruding from cast bearing housing. I also think that if this was the case the RH feederchain drive sprocket would have moved away from the adjustable stripper next to the sprocket.let us know what you find. Hyper Harvest II
