Combines N6 oil bypass filter gasket

Get rid of that nasty thing and install a spin on assy, Agco offers a kit or if you can find a newer combine in salvage some where you can take it off there...we change over every one we can..customers are little reluctant at first but a few have thanked me after they change the oil for the first time...

Ruined a motor on a '72 l due to failed o ring on bypass filter. My 7050 has never given trouble, but seems to me that Allis changed the design on the o ring. We always use Agco filter.

We removed bypass filter on all the l's and M's to prevent a ventilated engine. We installed the spin on kit for N6's and some N7's. The problem with the lubefiners was filter material getting into the orfice or spring check valve on center fitting of can. They limit the amount of oil threw the lubefiner with the orfice on the middle fitting so when gasket blows you lose a bunch of oil fast. We installed the orfice on the inlet side of some machines and removed the outlet orfice. Allis did start wraping the filter with plastic for shipping and reduced the size of the holes in filter to prevent filter material from entering orfice. Glad you caught it in time.

Pete, I have to agree with the other guys.Get that style off of your combine and call some yards to get the new style spin-on system.Warped lids,seal rings installed wrong,bolts in clamps breaking,orfices plugging creating extra pressure,etc............ Your engine will breath a sigh of releif once you have converted.Spin-on filter is also less expensive.

you need the spin on assembly. check your local bone yard or your agco dealer can get you one or maybe even a shortline company might offer one. it'll be money well spent believe me

Some canister lids become sprung for whatever reason. They never seem to seal right again. Change-over kit seems high at first glance, but it's inexpensive compared to a new engine.

Wouldn't NAPA or some major parts store have a kit for converting to spin on filtersIJ Transdapt comes to mind with a dual filter mounting boss that you can bolt on just about anywhere with connections for two oil lines. Not sure how much flow capacity an AC engine needs.

hello, i do aggree that the spin-on filter is the best option, but it does not seem anyone tried to answer your question as asked. AlWAYS UNDER ANY SITUATION REPlACE ANY SEAl OR GASKET THAT IS REMOVED.They will almost always leak sooner or later if not replaced. Gaskets and packings like that used on the bypass filter rely on crush to seal, once it has been installed there is no standout left to crush into place for a tight seal. Agco i dont think sends the packing with the filter either but i can tell you from manby years of experience that a couple dollars saved on generic filters is not worth it. Buy original equipment filters and in the long run you will save money. good luck VSTK
