Combines N6 or N7 Pros and Cons

living in what was a Massey neighborhood, I would recommend the N6 or N7 later versions over the Masseys. The Masseys seem quite hard to support these days; the later N's just seem to keep on rolling.

I bought a N7 last season and did most of the hyper modifications before harvesting with it. It did a great job in wheat and milo. Very clean sample even in nasty wheat. I was surprised at how easy it was to setup. I did not use it in corn or soybeans because I did not have headers for those crops yet. I will harvest all crops this season with it. Great capacity and a very simple machine. I like simple. The only problems I had were breaking belts (that I should have replaced before going to the field) and the hydro temp light came on during Milo harvest. But it was 105 deg. and I was pushing it in 100 bu. milo. I think the belt pulleys need to be replaced. I also have a l3 that is just plain reliable. But not near the capacity of the N7. Some will say the N7 is not reliable, but how can it not be if serviced properly. It is to simple of a machine to give much problem. That is what converted me to Gleaner. Simple design. Those green machines are hard to work on. But they are good machines too. I can only imagine working on some of the new machines. But if I could afford one - I could afford for someone else to work on it. Good luck.
