Combines N6 unloader height

I welded a new stop on my F2 so the unloader would be about 6in higher to reach over hopper bottoms.Didn't figure that amount would negatively effect u-joint angle.

You are right! The book is not very helpful. Only suggestion is to pull it out of the shed and give it a measure. If this is not possible, I have the identical machine, and if your problem is not urgent, I could do some measurements if you wish.

The problem is not urgent. I have a few things in front of it to move so it might be a few weeks as we are to get an ice storm this weekend. If yours is accessible that would be much appreciated. Mine also has the 30.5 x 32 drive tires. Thanks John

I believe it will be a tight fit and you will have to remove your spout. I have a l9000 tandem and I have about 6 inches clearance with the same setup you have with the spout cut in half. You will need the clearance down from the spout about 6 feet. The brace on the auger will rub before the spout hits.

There is a plug kit for base end of unloader swing cylinder on these early style power swivel systems. This should add about 1' height if I remember right. Might want to check with loewen to see if they make extender for these earlier unloaders. Also I seen a product called the extender but I don't know where you get them. Maybe someone else can help with that. We have only installed the plug kit on these earlier machines.

John, I have installed several plug kits as Dan has mentioned but they are overpriced($120 plus)the last time we used one. Now we just go and purchase a black 1 1_4" pipe coupling(Will probably set you back $3-$4) and all you have to do is remove the cylinder end cap and drop the pipe coupling down on top of piston and reinstall end cap. This will also add about 12" in height to unloading auger. If you decide to add an extension to your unloader tube I would advise adding a cable support to unloading auger similar to what Rolf had done to his N7. Good luck, Hyper Harvest II

Hi John, My wheels are the same as yours. My unloader auger length is 16 foot 9 inches long (measured from centre line of grain bin discharge auger to end of auger) and my height off the ground to the underside of the auger at discharge point is 13 foot 6 inches (not the underside of chute) My metal chute has been replaced by a rubber version which reduces damage and lets the auger clear a higher point. I also have the cable support fitted and I can recommend it. I do not know if the plug the others mentioned is fitted to my machine, nor if my auger is standard length. Perhaps if anyone else knows the standard length they could let me know.

I am just reposting my post of Nov 06 on cable supports for the N series unload augers; Many years ago, we extended the unload auger of our N7 by about 3 feet. To take the load off the pivot when the auger was full of grain, we used a cable running to the top rear corner of the grain tank. The grain tank anchor point of the cable was reinforced to spread the load. The cable anchor point on the auger tube was mounted on a sleeve about 18" long and clamped about two thirds of the way out along the unloader tube. This sleeve could be adjusted to allow the cable to be tight at the full extension of the unloader but allow for slack at all other times while folded, retracting and extending. It took a while for us to get this adjustment right and to guarantee that the cable would not catch on anything while extending or retracting. Once we got it right we had no further problems. The cable certainly took the load off the pivot and if unloading on the run would really help with some of these earlier models where the pivot is a little suspect or worn. The only problem was that if we retracted the unloader whilst full of wheat [ OK with other lighter grains, just! ] the hydraulics weren't good enough to raise the unloader without a bit of a shove. Probably a small adjustment to the valve pressures would have fixed this problem. We also bolted a 3 ft extension onto the unload auger on one of our l2's in the mid 1970's. Bit of a problem getting far enough down the tube to put the bolts in to hold the extension together so we slid Rolf down the tube to hold the bolts in place while we did them up. Gave him five bucks for the job! He was only a little tacker then. At about 6' 2' and 110+ Kgs doubt that I could get him down a 3 foot tube nowadays. Never was able to get him to do that again even though I told him he was well paid!

Bucko or R.O.M. would you mind emailing pics of your cable support. I need to do that to my N7. Thanks! arthaud @ ptsi.net

R.O.M. You would probably end up in court if you did the same thing to Rolf nowdays (lol)I know my Dad always had interesting jobs for me that have me thinking sometimes nowdays when working on the farm " How on earth did I do thatIJ" Also if you do add the extension to the tube check the chain that turns the tube out because they will break so it pays to change the joiner link every now and then. We had a 3 foot extension on our N7 and the cable gave us peace of mind.
