Sounds like he got a concave for a later machine. The earlier machines had the canves and adjustable plate like he described. Some earlier machines have been updated to accept the concave he got. The trap door latches on a stationary crossmember on the later machines or the updated earlier machines. Trap door latches on that adjustable plate that he describes on the earlier machines. I have a feeling that wrong concave got ordered which wouldn't be loewens fault. I use mostly all OEM for the fit is usually perfect. I have had very little problem with the fit of loewen stuff but no one is perfect. They have been quick to remedy a problem. loewen has been very nice to work with when we needed something special like extended cylinder bars, seperator grate covers, shock kits, ect. ect. I guess that is the main time I use them is for the special stuff and or normal stuff where they have added a refinement to make it better than OEM. Just remember if you have problem with fit or finish on something you should spend as much time expressing problem to builder as you do complaining and you will likely both benifit. Good luck with your project.

Dan - I sent you a email with pictures of the two concaves. Maybe you can tell me what is up by the pictures. I ordered the concave from Abilene Machine. The concave has a lowen sticker on it. The machine is a '83 series 3. That is what I told them at Abilene Machine. Thanks

Hi Marshall - Saw your note. We at loewens have checked our Gleaner N concaves, and as far as we can see they have all the holes necessary. We are sorry that the one you rec'd had some holes missing. How about you call Peter our fellow in charge of concave quality, and discuss with him the holes you are missing, and we will fix you up. 800-667-5082.

Glad to hear Abilene will fix you up for anyone can make a mistake. Is Abilene a Gleaner dealer or aftermarket outletIJ Sometimes it takes years of experience to get the right part to a guy. Sometimes a certain area of a machine has been updated beyond what the parts book will show so don't get to mad at all the silly questions the partmen ask you. Serial numbers are most important for a certain model number will run over many years with numerous changes. Did you ever send pictures for none come to meIJ Take care

Do me a favor and send me a test. One message to dhurtt@polarcomm.com and other to address above. Address above is old original and messages should still get to me but if not I'll have to reregister hear or get Marvin to update. Just curious for I wonder if I'm getting all my mail nowdays.
