Yes, here in the midwest, we can get by with 18%-19% corn in the bin as long as you can turn on the fan alone with a drying floor. We do it all the time. Just turn it on and let it run. Maybe on a real rainy or misty day you might have to turn it off and wait. But usually it takes 30-50 days and it will come down in moisture very nicely. Hope this helps.

You can harvest your corn up to 22% moisture content for natural air drying. The recommended air flow rate for an area from Wisconsin towards Kansas is 1.25 cfm_bu. And with the fan you have, corn at 18' deep, you'll only be getting 1.1 cfm_bu, so with 20' it'll be even less. The lower the M.C. of the corn when you harvest the better. You can dry your corn with your setup, just keep an eye on it to make sure it won't spoil before it has dried down. And make sure the humidity isn't too high, preferred for NA drying is around 65%. You don't want to be putting more moisture in the corn than you're taking out. Good luck.

when we put up our 10,000 bu bin...we had a stir-a-tor installed, and a drying floor, and a large drying fan. but to this day have never had to run any propane thru it. it was erected in 1974. we have had up to 28% corn in it, and never lost any to damage. also a grain spreader helps to. and we started to use a grain cleaner about 1982, that really helped let the air thru faster for dry down.
