I'm having trouble figuring out which machine you have and where threaded bolt broke. I wouldn't know if it would be grade 8 or 5. May I suggest to possiblely weld two nuts together to splice threaded rod back together and then jam with new nut. Otherwise grade 5 ready rod is very strong and will take more bending without breaking. Can't just pickup grade 8 ready rod just anywhere. I'd suggest to get it going with whatever means you got and then order proper rod. Good luck

Grade 8 is a far more brittle material but has superior tensile strength. Grade 5 is more ductile, ie. it bends easier without fracturing and will handle vibration better. If posssible, get rolled thread rather than a thread cut with a die. To try a simple explanation, the die cut thread cuts through the crystal structure of the drawn rod which can lead to easier fracturing through the thread. The rolled thread deforms the crystal structure and has greater strength. Most commercially available threaded rods are rolled thread made by rolling a rod between two flat plates which have the thread pattern grooved into them.

OK I think I know the bolt you are talking about. I didn't realize there was a jam nut next to the head of that 1_2"X8.5" grade 5 bolt. They need that jam nut in there to make up the thickness of socket on rachet adjuster. You could likely use ready rod by screwing on a normal width nut and welding it to the end. This would fit socket fairly well. I would still get the right bolt for I would not want concave to fly open to much. Running with concave to open can put some terrible pressure on cage. Do you have rocks or did something wack concave super hard to break head of bolt offIJ Good luck

unit is 97 r62 broken bolt looks to be ready rod now with nut welded to end. was in corn, noticed no difference in performance nor heard or felt anything unusual happen. dont have a rock problem or hi yielding corn this year. break looks fresh, am going to look very closely at things in the morning. how easy is it going to be to pull adjuster down to thread in readirod. will i have to hook come-a -long to the arm up high or try to push up concave from the insideIJ thanks James
