Hinged front feeder floor makes for about the best transition I can imagine between front and rear feed from full lift to full lower of feeder. I must add that standard floor tilt job basically clears up any transition problem between chains other than feeder being carried at the lowest and rarest position. A whole lot of work went into hinged front feeder and it would be hard for me to describe what all you would run into if you wing it on your own. I'm not quite ready with kit and good instructions. In the mean time if you want to get machine together I would go ahead with plan A floor tilt kit. To go one step further than that kit you could shorten rearmost floor of front feed 2" from original spot (this will help prevent straw from being driven up into rear tention drum with feeder at lowest and rarest position)(this would also basically duplicate where floor ended on machines prior to R42-52-62-72 and the Gleaner style feeder on the A85). You can always add hinged floor later for basically nothing will be changed from standard tilt job. My bet you will not take back apart for you will have a very hard time finding a crop or condition that will test feeder to the limit. Best of luck
