I don't believe it either. I think they have their 440's mixed up. It has been proven time and time again that a track tracotr wins in nearly every scenario over its wheeled equivalent. There are more parasitics associated with dualed and tripled 4x4's than with tracks. It'll be interesting to see where the new 4x4 Challenger MT900 places among its tracked counter parts. With its new giant metrics I can almost guarantee it'll be pretty low. But, I also think that the Nebraska Test lab has it out for tracked tractors. Some of their results are absolutely dumbfounded.

One must remember that the Nebraska test drawbar tests are done on a paved track so the belted tractors main traction advantage was not shown, but the turning of all those many wheels, idlers and rollers in the track system were obviously there to be seen. The Nebraska test are good info, but because they must pull on a paved track traction issues don't show up. The Neb. test guy"s poo-hoo'ed front wheel assist too when they first came out on tractors, but the advantage of FWA is pretty obvious when the traction condition is the least bit bad in the field. But not an advantage on paved track with a fully ballasted 2 wd.
