Combines need advise please on corn settings

I don't really know about setting a big combine like yours, but it souds close to being right. When you say you're "not happy with tailings" doin you mean the volume of tailingsIJ If it's the volume I would suggest opening your shoe even more and maybe check to see that your not sloughing the corn into the tailings because of to little wind or maybe blowing it out with to much wind, as you're finding kernel bits on your axle. If your corn sample is clean I would start with opening the shoe some. I also think that pehaps your ground speed is maybe to slow and your rotor isn't full enoughIJ less then 2 mph seems kinda slow. 25% is a little on the wet side and damages easier but should'nt be a big problem. BTW is this 2004 crop corn you're harvestingIJIJIJ Here in IA we have just finished silking this past week!! Good luck!

I am running the fan around 1350. Best grain sample we have ever had, But around here there is not a deduct for foriegn material. We have just started pulling Fri. We have had some rough weather in the area which blew some down. I am waiting for my corn saver to get here. I am putting it on the plastic new holland head. Not exactly trilled with this head, but I will make the best of it. The corn crop in this area will approach record numbers. Apparently the market thinks your crop will be big also. Can you open the shoe too much with an airjet chafferIJ

I assume you are going only 1.4 mph because your corn is down. That is too slow to keep the rotor full. A full rotor is less likely to cause kernal damage. The CNH corn head may be having a congestion problem at the center of the feeder conveyor causing grain damage. In the yield you have, with a six row header, you should be moving at 6 mph to keep the machine busy. Also, you should have your lower sieve set at 11_16 inch instead of 3_4. Your fan, at 1350, is running faster than I've ever heard of before. Something is unusual for it to be able to be set that high. With the light load in the machine that may be too much air and the corn is blowing into the return causing further damage.

Thanks Mr. Gordon. The tops are green but the shucks are brown. 26% 240bu today. Noticed that the new concaves have a sharp edge between them and is causing plugging or stopping material from clearing. Is there a right way and a wrong way to put the concaves in.
