Just 2 comments: 1) I have never experienced mud buildup on top of skid plates on any Gleaner head I have run including Flex heads, 300 Series, and now 500 Series. Are you sure you arent backing up with skid plates touching the groundIJ Is there a possibility mud is getting in over the sickle and under the front edge of the feather sheetsIJ I seem to recall turning the feather sheet mounting clip upside down to close the gap between the feather sheets and sickle guards. I probably moved the clips from the bottom side to the topside if I remember correctly after close to 20 years. Newer heads dont have this wide gap. 2) I added roughly 200 lbs to the RH side of my 525 head in addition to the factory weights. It feels better in the cab and there seems to be less jerkiness when raising and lowering. I havent added any weight to the 6-row Hugger, but maybe that would be a good idea. Anybody have any suggestionsIJ Tom in MN

First I think you will love the sch cutter bar.very little upkeep to them. The only draw back is that in notill sometimes they can spear corn stalks because the point is kind of sharp. when you put them on tilt the cutter bar back a littel this may help your problem with dirt build up on top of the skid plates. We had the same problems with the 300 series looking back I think we ran the heades to flat to the ground maybe tha t is part of your trouble. I know worn out tiger jaws make you think your head should be closer to the ground. The new dividers are a big improvement Before you try to shorten up the cutter bar distance from the auger try the hose mod and run the reel farther out front.I know that it has been done but it is alot of work. I think the hose mod is one of the bigest helps on any header and it is very simple to do. Tim
