Combines Need help in selecting combine

If you're looking for a axial-flo stay with a 1991 or newer combine. In 1991 and newer machines they have a longer cleaning system. I would advise looking for a machine with a cross flow fan this is an add on to all combines clear back to the 1400 series this makes a big diference. Beware some 1680 combines they have more horse power than the new 2388's I ran into this with a 1991 model. If you want a good machine and don't want to spend a fortune look for a 1688. My family and I have on of these a 1660 and a new 2388 and there is not really that much difference until you look at comfort.

I have never spent too much time in a 1600 series cab, only a couple of days. My personnal opinion..

Thanks Bigred, It gives me something to think over during the winter. It's just that I found an ammaculate 1660 but don't have to rush into anything. Might just wait for a newer one and run the green one a little longer. Happy Holidays!

We recently bought a Gleaner l2 that had previously been running a 6-row corn head... the first year we used it we had major brake problems and a rear wheel literally broke off. What we discovered is that a large combine running a small head has a lot of wear on the rear running gear and the brakes, due to having to turn so tight at the end of the field. Just something to think about.
