I have a 8780xp with a Hillco leveling system and have lost one rear wheel. The steep hillsides are tough on the rear wheels. I think the bolts are not staying tight. I got longer bolts and touqed them to 165 pounds and than put lock nuts on the back. Have not had any more problems. good luck

The third wheel that has borken had longer studs with lock nuts on the inside of the wheel hub and were not loose. Appears the rims are just not handeling the pressure. Why does this show up after 3 years and on newer rims as well as the old Massey rimIJIJIJ Very fru;strating as have only done 40A in 2 days all because of tire rim problems'''

I had a wheel get loose and crack on my XP. To fix it I went to a salvage yard and got a damaged rim cheap and cut the center out of it and welded it onto my damaged rim for reinforcement. I have not had any more trouble. You might try that if you have another failure. Brian

There are companies out there that will make you the rim you need with the center beefed up. For example, I had Wold make me a set of oversize rims for the rear of our 1680 with centers 3_4" thick. There is no way that rim will break out at the bolt holes (I don't think). They are great to do business with. The number is 800-443-9653

This has been a problem since the rear wheels were increased in size in early 80's. Basically when you do a 6mph hard turn with a full hopper in wet or soft ground something's gotta give. The hub is too thin and it keeps flexing until it cracks out. I have seen guy's tackweld in web plates using 3_16" x 2" steel running across the full diameter in about 6 equal spaces. Seems to work. I keep a close eye on my 860 with the big rears for any sign of cracking. Have a good harvest...

I have found out this morning that the replacement rims I was getting were 3000 lb rims not 5000 lb rims as were the OM rims. This was news to the tire dealer I am working with. We are checking to see if Massey increased the specs on rims for the new machines and if so can the be used on the 8780XP. I will be getting 5000 lb rims and reinforcing rings put on tomorrow if massey's are not heavier. thanks for all the input

call steve hewitt in Monroe, Ia. He has a tire_wheel shop and welds up wheels. Ask him if he can build you a couple of wheels with thick steel plate centers for your combine. I bet this will stop all that other nonsense. GS
