Combines need help on R52 deutz engine heating up

take a water hose and see if the eng oil cooler under n1 cyl will pass water through All passages. HAve had to use a mig wire to clean out. Also check your FAN BlADES on the turbine. If they get thin they will not pressurize chamber. Service manuals have a wear guide.

My R50 was doing the same during wheat harvest. Had to replace the fan. When it gets the edge worn off it won't pull enough air. After replacing, no problems. Make sure you get the right one. Their are two different ones shown for the R50.

thanks for your advice, it seems like there is pleanty of air, it lifts up the shield if it is not clamped down, but i'll check that first. thanks, nate.

thanks for your advice, i'll check the fan first, the oil temp comming from the oil pan always reads ok, just wondering if it could be just that one cylinder, thanks nate.

You say it is sender in n1 cylinder (flywheel end on Deutz). That is the engine head temp sender. Is it the engine head temp or engine oil temp that is bothering. The temp gauge should be reading high also if you have an oil temp problem. We have had plenty of head temp senders go bad turning on light to early. My experience has been that engine head and oil temp come up with bad fan. You could check air pressure in cowling with water manometer. You should see about 6" water at 2500 RPM. I've seen as low as 3" without heating but I would want to replace for they can get out of balance with to much wear and cause more problems. Good luck.

I had the same problem this year when I harvested wheat.My dealer told me to pressure wash the engine. (inside the panel's)You should take a light behind the engine a be able to see light thru the cylider fins.Also you can replace the sender on the number one cylinder.I have a extra one I will sell you if you need one,$30.00 plus shipping. The way I fixed mine is I traded combine's just today !!! I do have a few part's that I need to get rid of if your interested.Good luck!!

Dan, would you get a false positive reading if the fins are pluggedIJ I prefer spending a considerable amount of time cleaning cylinder fins every year or two during off-season maintenance to make sure there are no obstructions to air movement. Using a trouble light to look for plugs is a good idea. Tom in MN

My R50 the oil temperature wasn't heating up, but the head temperature light would come on. This would happen when I pushed it faster than about 3.7 mph.

im sorry, i think i described the wrong cylinder, the one farthest from the fan, whichever one that is. the pan oil temp sensor i just replaced, but that one never had a high reading. i had the engine head temp light come on. if i would idle down it would shut off with in seconds. it was doing this occasionally before the injector went bad. i thought high temp might have had something to do with the injector. i also operate on step hills, if that could do anything. thanks again for everyones help.
