After I replaced the fan, I was able to go 5 mph in 50 bushel wheat without it getting hot. limiting factor was grain loss. Outside air temperature was mid 90's. Cost of the fan was about $230.

also in aiding cleaning there is a panel on the back side that will come off easily with a 10mm wrench and a few bolts. This is for directing air around the back side of the cyls. This will open up the fins for inspection and (possibly the scandinavians as well Tl)

I think it would take some major plugging to affect a water manometer pressure test. I've found the pressure test to be good way of making judgement of fan condition. I couldn't agree more that a good cleaning every year or two is a must. These engines stay quite clean in our area as long as there are no major straw or chaff leaks in suction side of fan. We use powerful pocket size maglights to inspect passages threw jugs and heads. If blockages have been in there to long it takes more than air to clear it. We'll use high pressure water directly in area of plug and sometimes it needs to soak awhile then get another blast untill plug clears. Areas that you can't get good line of sight on should get extra blast of air or water to be sure of no blockage.

I think you had it right for the furthest one from fan is Deutz n1 and it has the engine head temp sender in it. Each cylinder has its own oil cooling jet but you can't adjust pressure on it sepatate of other jets. If that cylinder should fail again I would be sure to see jet is lined up with hole in piston. Injector likely failed because a piece of junk got in it. Injectors will rarely fail to the point that they will hurt an engine but be sure to get them checked if you question smoothness of engine. We like to get injectors checked somewhere between 1000 and 2000 hours on combines. I'm still leaning toward a weak sender in your machine if it is the head temp but be sure to clean jugs well and check fan. Good luck.

Our R-52 does the same thing- head temp light on but oil temp gauge normal. I just ignore the light as long as the oil doesn't heat up. Dealer has checked sensor on light and replaced, but still does it. They said we may have to replace the wiring from sensor to light. I really get sick of the beaper constantly going off though. That's the only downside.
