I have never had an N series but I did install auto reel speed on a late l2. There is a wire behind the tach that needed to be connected as I recall to get ground speed. And I had to buy a harness from the lower console to the feeder house. Are you going to add a pickup to your corn headIJ The entire corn head kit is $50-60 and easy to install. The speed range isnt very wide but it is helpful in certain crop conditions.

tbran, I think it was you that had a post down a ways about using the standard reel sprocket to operate the auto reel speed. All that was needed was the pickup and the harness. The harness is already there. How is the pickup located relative to the large sprocket,or are there mods to be done to the sprocket. Checked on the price for the proper sprocket for the auto speed control and decided this was an option that will remain so, but if there is another way....Thanks. Rob.

yes that funny sprecket is pricy. The problem is that for the reel speed to work properly you need a lot of impluses. Picking up off the std sprocket will result in too wide a speed change. When this is used most people end up turning it off. let me work on this a bit and I will get back.

How many impulses are needed per rev.IJ Would drilling a series of holes in large sprocket work the same. Put the holes at the same diameter as the impulser sprocket. Would need them large enough to trigger the pickup. Or would this weaken the sprocket too muchIJ Have not seen the proper sprocket so may be all wet on this idea. Rob.
