Combines NEED HElP Question on P1 R60 Hyper mod

Here's what I get out of the drawing in P1 upgrades. He has only stacked and or added helicals to two of the doors. They are the two doors just above feeder chain on front side of cage. I don't know how many people have did it that way. We stack or shim every helical on thresher and seperator side. Stack is a 3_8" helical on top of a 3_8" helical. Shim is a 3_8" helical on top of 1_4" flat iron shaped and twisted like a helical. We not only stack or shim all helicals but we add a green stem kit. Green stem kit consists of 6 more helicals. Them helicals are added in a similiar area as you seen in hyper upgrades but it includes 3 helicals that basically hook up the steeper angle thresher side to the seperator side at three locations. That kit sure helps the straw make a nice transition in a very important area. I forget number of kit but I believe it is Gleaner thresher bulliton n0006. The R60-70 service manual has a better picture of cage door setup. Included in Green stem kit is picture of kit installed along with all the other helicals. There are channel iron helical kits that do the same thing or better than shimming or stacking but it all adds $$$. Maybe if you describe crops and yeilds someone will share there setup. Buy the discharge paddles threw parts and make up the mounts and gussets. Hope that helps.

like you I was confused until I got inside the cage with the diagram. Once inside it all became clear. Dan has given a good discription also. I used old helicals as shims and had to hone out the bolt holes on some of them to get the bolts through. like I said, once you get inside with the diagram is all makes sense.

Dan, I checked on that Green stem kit. My dealer never found a kit part number, but he did find 6 channel helicals marked for edible beans in the parts book. I think those are it, but they are $135 each! Also we looked at putting in helical bars to stack. The only ones for an R60 with S_N 16146 were $60 each. He wasn't sure, but can I just used earlier S_N R60 Reg(Black) helicals for stacking. They are only $15 each for the long thresher onesIJ If you can help me with out too much work I would greatly appreciate it!! And, you were right - buying the new discharge paddles from my dealer is the way to go, they are decently priced. Thanks for any more help ahead of time! luke

I believe it is combine thresher bulliton 0006 that has part number. I believe it is 71358199 for about $350. I'll have to check that out. I believe I priced just the helicals from that kit and it come up to about $200. The helicals in that kit are mostly like cage all ready has except for the ones that make the transision and they are the spendy ones. They are built just like the rest of the helicals except different length. They are not channel. The helicals you mention must be the ones for the channel iron helical kit. That kit was developed for edible beans and carried a kit price of $2000 plus so we just shimmed the helicals on most machines. Yes you can use old P1 helicals from salvage yard or whatever to stack with. I hope that gets you going. Take care
