I think you will find that "willing to cut for less" will greatly shorten the "TIME IN YOUR lIFE YOU SPEND CUTTING WHEAT" Insurance and Help will be major expense.. Poor help can cost you your entire run in about 5 seconds. If your gonna stay local you can probably get by with older equipment, but if you talking about hauling this rig from texas to montana you better get your self a very good rig.. The DOT luvs ( and by luvs I mean eats them for lunch every day) older rigs.. There is alot more to custom harvesting than just liking to run combines.. I suggest you find a good custom harvester and hire on with him a couple years before you buy anything.. If you like and he likes you prerhaps you could buy a machine in a year or two and run with him till you caqn start your own run.... Oh yea customers.. gotta have customers lined befor you head out on harvest..
