Combines Need help with G

Just some thoughts. You might try moving your walkers as close to the raddle as possible. That may help to pick up the stalks before they fall on the shoe. If it is grinding stalks you may be able to increase your cylinder clearance and send them through un-ground.

The word stalks implies that Milo is something like corn or sunflowers or sorghum. If you harvest Milo with a head like a corn head, maybe your head is taking in too much stalk material. There is a raddle speedup kit for l_M series that throws material further on the walkers. I am not familiar with a G but there may be something similar from AGCO parts. l_M machines have a shield above the rear raddle to slow down crop movement in light seeded crops like small grains. I dont know anything about Milo so I wouldnt have the foggiest idea if a shield is something you should look into and remove it if you dont need it. Why dont you tell us what Milo looks like and maybe others who are more familiar with that type of crop can give you some help. All I know about Milo is that my word program says it is supposed to be capitalized as in someones name. Do you listen to golden oldies on KOMAIJ We like their format and can usually pick it up on cold nights. Tom in MN

Tom, Milo is the common name in our area for grain sorghum. I guess that name is not used in all areas. The Hesston headhunters we are using are mounted on a rigid header. Each unit gathers the stalk off the ground and then the stalk is cut at the sickle. With these headhunters I do have to cut lower than I normally would. That may be the reason for the stalks on the shoe due to the extra length. I will check to see if there is a shield and also check how close my walkers are to the raddle as mentioned on another post. You might be able to answer my other question. What would be the advantages_disadvantages of an N6 vs R50. Matt

Hi Matt Both are fine machines and they are usually hard to find in decent condition. The N6 is larger with a bigger grain tank while the R50 is newer and worth more. Either machine would have infinitely more capacity than your G. I upgraded from an l2 to an R60 for 2 reasons. My family wanted me to get a combine with feed reverser as they worried that I might get a heart attack or something unplugging the l2 in tough beans. Secondly, the l2 grain tank wasnt large enough to make 1_4 mile rounds in corn with a 6-row head. After Hyperizing the R60, I wouldnt go back to a conventional if I got it for nothing. Tom in MN
