Combines Need Some Help and Advice on M2

check to see if harmonic balancer on crankshaft has slipped and appears to be out of time. one of my m2's pumps had to be rebuilt and the mechanic had to time it "off" abut twenty degrees because of that.

I checked all that when I had the valve cover off to make sure I was on TDC. Don't think that has happened as I lined up the marks on the pump when I removed it the first time. I'm agree with you that the engine is out of time.

will it not crank WITH smoke from the ex pipe or NO smoke from the exh. IJ If NO smoke then..first check the transfer pressure - if the pump is good you have an air leak or restriction. IF you have pressure in the 15n range plus then .. Pull an injector and turn it upside down and reattach line. Wearing goggles have someone crank the engine over. Does the injector 'pop'IJ If not check the pressure, lower it 200n at a time till the pump will pop it, the set the rest to that pressure. anything from 2400 to 3000 will work. I ran an l2 for hundreds of hours at 2200 psi with no problems other than a little more smoke.. IF it does smoke and it is white smoke it is probably low compression - assuming you have it timed properly.

Didn't get to work on it today,it has gotten very dry here and had to tend to some cattle that have run out of pasture. I will try to start it tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks!!

Started the combine today. Started right up with no either. Had a slight miss at first but that soon smoothed out. Some blue smoke but not much. local dealer is letting me borrow a timing light to get her right. Now on to the next problem. Thanks!!
