Combines Need the part n for helical extension

IG, The n I have is 71402029 but i think Dan builds his own so it does'nt go down as low towards the crop stream coming up the feeder. Gleaner calls it a "helical vane extension". You can look on Ed Boysuns website for some good pictures of one he built.

Have you checked to see if not already factory installedIJGuy in MO had a 05 65 with it from factory.Came loose...major damage to cage...was fighting with Agco over fix...welds broke.

This component is extremely important to check for failing parts every harvest season. Inspect welds for cracking and retorqing bolts. The welds on one of our combines was broke this fall before we started harvesting, we caught it and had if fixed. Yes major damage to cage when they break loose and go through the processor. It will process your cage if not fixed.

I had this part fail on an 05. Weld the thing in there and be done with it. Forget about the bolts. The new ones are welded in supposedly. 05's were supposed to be welded but ours was not for some reason.

loewen supplies one - part number CPGl30C with a chrome channel bolted to top of it.

Purchase the loewen one. It is made exactly like ours. I gave them one to copy when I couldn't keep up making them plus I wanted them in their distrubution network. You drill the cage for a third bolt in helical so you shouldn't need to weld in but I started welding in also. The cage can be drilled from the inside if you first grind the chrome away. I installed many without rotor removed when I first found the benifit of them. That can be done by estimating where hole needs to be for helical and then drilling from hopper side which is not chromed. With the loewen extention be sure you cut excess threads from middle bolt in helical to prevent feeder chain slat from contacting. This bolt should have threads cut flush with nut. Be sure to use good allen head socket to tighten in the two countersunk bolts that did hold crop flow directer in and now will hold in helical extention accross feeder. Them bolts are very important and are likely why some Gleaner fillers come out. Be sure bolts are just the right length. I have seen them to long so they will run into adjustable seperator grate frame prior to clamping in extention. Machines prior to '97 did not have adjustable seperator grate so countersunk bolts had a nut on them which likely helped prevent anyone from under torqueing. Also heard of the posibility of bolt being to short where the threads could end up pulling out. At any rate you will be better off welding the leading edge to cage. The '06 machines have the extention built into cage material. I trim them to get excess iron out of the flow coming from feeder then reposition helical accordingly.
