Check the CIH site. The AFX rotor comes in 4 configurations and there something about an anti-wrap cone. Sounds like a major change to the whole system.

Makfarm, The new machines ship with the heavy vanes in the cone and in the rotor housing. I was told about 7G's for an update kit. This includes the rotor with the larger drive_driven pulleys and etc. The new unit I saw looked like the same transition cone. The impeller blades come very close to the throat chain. They look like double flighting on an auger.

the afx rotor has about 6 inches longer shell and shorter taper area. yes the new augers on the afx are replacable. the longer shell also makes it harder to change front rasp bars. it would take machine shop like worthington,mn. to do it. anyone in the area know if they done one yet.

I have installed 2 afx rotors in 2003 2388's. I think the cone on front is alittle longer. If u put on in a 2003 model which has the side mount air screen take the driva adaptor off the old roter. The new rotor does not have a spacer and it doesn't spline up till u tighten bolts. Then u only have about 1_8 inch of threads.

Check with Terry at St John Welding. He is already selling reworked modified rotors for CIH machines. If anyone could do the job it would be them. The current St John rotors look very much like the "new technology" MF rotors which they were selling long before the new MF combines came out.

I have a new AFX waiting for my 2388 it is longer and there ia a lot of difference in how the rasp bars are configured. alot more thrashing goes on in the cone with a AFX and there are more and heavier vanes. the transition cone on a AFX8010 is a solid welded piece with all the vanes welded into it. they are 1_2 metal. theres more than a little bit of difference
