2xxx series cabs are so full of electronics I'd think it'd be well nigh impossible to make the switch. And . . .it would probably be cheaper just to buy the 2xxx series machine, than buy a 1688 and try the retrofit. my .02
How do you figure that the 1688 is largerIJ We have a 1688 (ordered a 9750 STS 2 weeks ago) and my father runs a 9500. The 1688 is a 180 bushel stock tank, 9500 is 200 stock, and a tad bit more hp. Just wondering. I am keeping the 1688 for wheat and soybeans, running the STS in corn. We didnt like the AFX when we looked into it and so we went green for a chnage.
i don't know about your 1688, but ours with a mauer ext. holds 250 bu. and has 250hp. the 1688 is a class 6 machine and the 9500 is a class 5. they both have the same size tank, but the 9500 has less hp. with grain carts i really don't care about the tank size to much, the more corn up there the more weight. you do know the differance between an artsway feed grinder and a john deere combineIJ differant shade's of green.
I didn't know I said anything about red vs green capacity, but i will now. I've cut with a 1680 beside a 9500. There's no comparison. Even my non-farmer truck driver could see that. The 1680 had over a third more capacity than the 9500 and you shoulda seen the ground behind that green machine. YIKES! Where'd you get your grain tank statsIJ Even the 1480 had a 208 bushel grain tank standard and the 1680-2388 had 210 standard. I believe the 9500 was 190. Think you got it backwards. BTW why'd you reply to me with this nonsenseIJ Did you reply to wrong postIJ The original poster is the one who made the comment about capacity. AND you are completely (and got us completely) off the subject of the original post. IT WAS NOT about CIH vs JD. It was about swapping to a later style cab on an earlier machine. How did your post help with his questionIJ Sorry to be so ornery, but you replied to me in a completely nonsensible manner.
