Combines New cat combine

The Cat lEXION has always been the king of the hill. And, I don't even have to own one to know that!

If you owned one (like I do) you might change your mind! It's great to have the largest capacity combine, but it's totally mundane if you don't have a dealer network behind it. CAT is really not much different from the "old Claas" of yesteryear; - same lousy service. I'm going back to green!

Back2Conventional: I noticed that you are going "Back2Conventional" combine instead of a JD STS rotaryIJ I've noticed some other JD green guys doing this on the harvest run after having STS combines. Is this because of poor wheat sample or the high wearIJ What is your reasonIJ We have been satisfied with our Cat dealer support in CA. Some of the technicians lack a combine background, but they generally try to help us.

Yes Our service so far has been good from Kramer Cat in Saskatchewan and we really like the machine so far. Just wish the rain would quit so we can go get that crop!

Hello CalStyl, I rented a slightly used 9650STS for 200 hours last year to help get "caught-up" with our custom work. I had no problem getting a clean sample from any of our crops, with the exception of trefoil seed which yields a perpetually dirty sample regardless. My problem with the STS is (you guessed it) the high wear and extreme maintenance costs on this machine; - I don't think the STS is the answer. I'm not "knocking" the lexion itself, I'm happy with the combine when there's a support infrastructure behind it; - I'm just "blessed" with a very poor dealer who treats "ag" equipment as a sideline. If I had my choice of rotaries, it would either be a Gleaner or CaseIH 2300 series. If our local CAT dealership is assigned to a better company, I will definitely consider a CAT again.
