Is it really a CAT engine or is it just a perkins labeled CATIJ The engines in the Challenger tractors are all Perkins (owned by CAT) labeled as CAT engines. Of course, we all know that these are just the same tractors as the Masseys anyway...engines and all!

The 9 liter C9 is all Cat. The largest "Perkepillar" is the 6 liter 3056 topping out at 174 HP.

we ran it against two r72's with draper hdrs, it would keep up but was maxed out in the shoe. we ran it with a 2388 and it out performed it in capacity and grain sample but the massey seemed to loose grain easier than the case. we had no trouble out of the rotor drive, we pluged it once in very weedy conditions but all you have to do to unplug it is push a switch.

We didnt plug the R72's but when we pluged the massey we were abusing it (putting it mildly) to see what it would do. the hydro rotor drive works great. we were running 30' hdrs on all of them in 40 to 50 bu wheat. the massey was a 2001 8780xp.

Impressive!! For an 8780XP to do that well against the Case and especially the Gleaners. Just imagine what the new 9790 class 7 MF with a considerably bigger cleaning shoe and more hp will do! MF is back with this machine.
