I am wondering what crops you are planning to harvest with the CR970IJ I see no problem with a 36' draper on the 970. In fact most of the ones I saw working last summer were 42' drapers and the 970 has plenty of capacity and HP for the 42'. If you are planning to do any soybeans the 2004 36' flex-draper works really good. Several guys demo'd it last fall and gave it good reviews after they saw it work. I'm sure you'll love the CR and the draper header.

Nel, keep us posted as to how the 36' flex-draper works. I think the flex part is a great idea, but I'm skeptical about the MacDon over all compared to the HoneyBee that NH has been selling the past several years I have a 30' HoneyBee that I'm very pleased with. I couldn't believe how much the draper increased the combine capacity by running the grain in heads first.

We run a 36ft. Honeybee on our 480, great head, feeds well; better then the Macdon we had previously run and the 972 we demoed. However, it is just not built as well as the Macdon. The old 962 we ran was 10 yrs old and it was basically trouble free as long as we changed the roller bearings every few years. The honeybee gives us problems on a yearly basis, this past year the main drive shaft snapped off. The year previous to that the drive motor spun, destroying the main drive shaft. In our first year we ripped a canvas because it came untracked and the wobble box fell off. The hydraulics are forever leaking and the canvases do not self-track like Macdon's. I know these problems are minor:), but I thought they were worth noting. The shaft breaks as a result of the floating drum on the adapter, apparently this is not a problem when these heads are run on smaller machines. The problem of the drive motor spinning has been addressed; one large bolt to secure it in place rather then two set screws. I was away at school our first year when the wobble box fell off so I don't know why that happened and what they did to address it. The leaky hydraulics is an ongoing problem.

let me tell you you will be more than pleased with your dissision of the CR 970 with Duals with the 36 ft header. The duals will give you unmatched stability and the 970 has got the capasity to swallow up 36 feet of any size of crop stand. If you want to take a look at what you may be looking at next harvest season you can come to our web site and view the CR 960 and CR 970 in action with pic's and both video. I have 30 video to watch and if you click on the bottom few video choices you will see your CR 970 with duals with a 30 ft header and the view is from both in the cab and drive by. Enjoy and happy and safe harvest 2004 my friend. View the pic's and video from our web site .... { www.johnbob.ca } Your friends at John Bob Farm Equipment ltd. Tisdale,Sask.Canada. Has anyone got pictures of the 970 CRs with the 42' headsIJ Please post them here if you can. I have a shot of a Gleaner with a 51' Honey Bee head in Canada. looks impressive, but there is a lot of offset from the combine's centerline.
