Gentlemen:Hibred is testing my design. We modified Hibred's Gleaner skid shoes in 2000.This worked much better than original shoe design. We did this change to lightening's header in Ohio in 2005 and have changed 7 others here in Ontario. We still had the same problems with sandy light soil pushing in between cutterbar and leading edge of skid shoe and cutter bar can not flex enough without bendng the skid shoes. The new shoes are working real well on Hibred's 25 ft 8000 series header. We dropped the modified shoes off and after approximately 25 hours of fitting had our new shoes on.We then had to adjust for tilt of guards at back of header, rate of header raise_lower on combine, and open accumulator valve further.Hibred can tell you how it is working in the field. My question is:how much welding, grinding and fitting will the aveage farmer be willing to doIJThe wobble box and rh outer shoes are easy to do but the parallel links are spaced differently on 18,20,22,25,and30 ft. headers. We are willing to make templates but the clips that are bolted to the ball joints have to be bolted to the joints with the new shoe in place, tack welded, removed, welded permanently and reinstalled.Since the new Gleaner_MF header still uses old design we are TESTING this new shoe kit. Will keep informed on this site.John.
