The proto the we saw this fall had the same gleaner processor we all have grown to love. The big difference will be a new cab and some of the adjustments and lubication points.

I hope they change more than just the cab. Some reliability would be nice. I would like to see the hydro pump mounted off of the engine to get rid of an unneeded belt. The hydro pump drive idler requires alot of maintenance and the belt being so close to the drive tire is a problem in mud. The feeder house floors also need to be bolted in to be replaceable. They also need to put on one hydraulic pump to handle everything. If you get lateral tilt, hydraulic spreader drive, ect. they add a pump for each one and this just adds to more trouble. The returns to cylinder option does not work if you want to run the returns to the shoe it keeps plugging up at the top. I would like to use it in corn but can't because of poor design.

Changing the rotor to an axial configuration will undoubtedly change the entire combine. A couple of things come to mind that I think I will not like 1) rotor drive will be come more complex, 2) will lose the nice engine compartment, 3) probably lose accelerator rolls, 4) removing rotor will no longer be a 45 minute job. I also hope that if they do make the change that they copy Cat by threshing the crop with a transverse cylinder first then separate with a rotor. The change will have some advantages Im sure, but I bet the changes wont make it any simpler or cheaper. Kind of wish they would work on some of the Hyper stuffthose guys are definitely on the right track. I guess if it ends up making it a better machine it is fine by me, but it is hard to not be skeptical.

Yes I do. It does not seem like there is enough of a angle for the returns to fall and gets hung up.

Just so you are aware that there are mud shields for muddy conditions. I saw a custume machine with the metric equivalant of 30.5 X 32 tires and he had 6" spacers to move wheels out from belts. He was able to haul that way. ladder needs to be tilted up just a bit to clear tires. I think you would have had less belt alignment problems and belt problems and shaft problems if you keep mud out of pulleys. Did you try reducing tailing by opening sieve and cleaning up with chaffer to prevent upper tailings pluggingIJ

I have machines with mud shields and machines with 6 inch spacers. The mud shields are a pain. Six inch spacers are nice it gives more room to adjust the idlers. After over 20 Gleaner rotors I know that this area is a weak link. The machines with mud shields have the same amount of trouble with the idlers as the machines with 6 inch spacers so I think I am keeping the mud out of there. Over the years I have tryed different adjustments on the tailings and have never been able to keep it from plugging when set to the shoe position. I don,t have any trouble when returning it to the cylinder.
