I would seem crazy to build a complex flex draper head, when a 50' ClAD - Center line Auger Drive header with full finger auger and dual opposed sickles could be manufactured for much less and be more reliable. Granted, draper headers do feed small grains "heads first" for ideal threshing. But a properly adjusted ClAD auger table will accomplish the same feat, with fewer drives and parts. As far as soybean plants, I haven't found many real advantages when using the draper headers other than their overall width and better lateral tilt.
