Combines New hugger corn heads

we have a hugger head that just went through our 3rd harvest we changed all the gathering chains and snapping roller knives. Didn't have any trouble getting parts. The only problem I have with the head is the cheap tin sheilds on the side for the drive chains and every year you can count on changing the shaft that drive the snapping rolls on the left side, you would think the brains at the company would quit welding on the shafts. We have an 8-30 now before we had an 6-30 same problem.

Talked to my dealer today about the new heads,said they put Massey gathering chains on them.He had one sold,and when it came in told the customer not to take it,because it looked like nothing but problems.Heard the engineer who changed the chains was fired.

Thanks for your reply, but I am referring only to hugger heads made in August 2003 or later. They were the ones that got all the changes.

look further down the comments. We talked about this about a month ago. Hyper had a fix for this problem. Kurt
