The Uni Harvesters had stripper bars,but if you're talking pull type I've never seen one with stripper bars.

We used to run a New Idea picker,as the corn got dry it would shell lots at the snapping rolls.Never really been around a Deere but with stripper bars I would think it would shell much less.The New Idea would pick very clean.

The Deere 300 pickers are better at getting under down corn, and have less shell-out and ear-loss than a New Idea 324_325. However, a 300A with a 243 corn head is a lot heavier than a 325 gathering unit with 327 12-roll husker installed. The 327 bed will husk cleaner than the 300A will. Parts support will be an issue. Deere has obsoleted a lot of parts on the 300 pickers. Many New Idea picker parts are still available from AGCO, but the obsoleted list slowly grows each year.

Our experience with the New Idea Pull Picker is that it will shell more as the corn dries below 17%. Picking seed corn you are most likely going to have the field picked long before that time. Also the New Idea will pick very clean if there is some life left in the stalk. (When we got later in the season we would only pick after dark because the late nov. night would bring on the dew)

WE HAVE A NEW IDEA 327 THAT WE WOUlD BE WIllING TO PART WITH IF INTERESTED. AlWAYS SHEDDED AND IN GOOD CONDITION. WE DON'T DO ANY EAR PICKING ANYMORE. lET ME KNOW IF YOUR INTERESTED.

You've got a 327 husking bed . . . but what gathering unit is it onIJ A 324 2-row wide, or a 325 2-row narrowIJ

It is a 2 row wide. Also forgot to mention that it has an extension on the rear elevator. This was added to fill gravity flow wagons.

I owned one of the last new ideal 325 pickers with the 327 husking bed. it did not have stripper plates. this machine did very good at picking corn 20% or higher moisture. sold the machine 3 years ago for $4600. live in ohio near the old new ideal plant. Plenty of these units still around. I believe it was a 1982 model and had Agco decals on it.
