Here in Europe have a good reputation in power and long life but not in fuel efficiency. The best engine for a combine is the Deutz air cooled engine or the Daymler-Chysler ( Mercedes ). I've a combine with a Deutz air-cooled engine and it have more than 1000 hours without any problem in the engine. It's a 120 hp and it burns 10-12 liters_hour in a corn harvest.

The last new IH combines were produced in 1984. After that, IH became a truck only company. FYI The major ag manufacturers today are Deere, Agco, Case-New-Holland, and Cat. IH continues to make a superb truck, but no combines.
