Probably when John Deere actually makes a combine to compete with. It sure isn't an STS, my 20 yr old N6 does a faster and better job than the 9750STS across the fence, when it runs for him.

What are you worried about gleaners are the best going. In my area there is four 9750 sts 12 9600, and half dozen tr. three tx's 5 caseIH and then some older machines. These are people that i hunt with and play hockey and help out. They all ride me about having silver. but when it all comes down to it my two R72's have never been hauled out of the field by a truck. The two brothers that have the 9750's have had there machines hauled out 5 times this season and two times last yr. Newholland and case have been hauled out too but not as much as the jd's. After the season they do come over and talk serius abot the sample i leave and the fact i don't throw over like they do, plus they have even admitted that i can travel faster then them. colin

You know the old saying, You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, same goes for people. You can prove somthing is better but their still afraid to try somthing different. All the corn was shelled early around here this year and after it rained all the lost grains sprouted and grew, talk about seeing who left the most on the ground. One guys STS left so much he went out and disked the stalks and when it rained again it looked worse than it did before.

Right on R-72. Our R-72 has been rock solid too. I'm really glad that they have not gone too far down the complexity road with their new ones...all those gadgets are just trouble. Do we even really need to have concave clearance adjustable from the cabIJ I see no need for that in corn and soybean country. Their are very few design changes needed on these machines. Besides changing design all the time just costs too much money. A neighbor bought a new STS this fall. He said that he has never combined a full day yet without the area JD tech person having to fix something. That was 12 days into harvest. The list of all the problems is too long for this post. But put it this way, this is all the better JD has been able to get his machine to operate...1) automatic header height has never worked, not for a minute. He has run his head manually all fall, 2) Contour Master has never as well, he runs that manually too, and 3) Green Star...need I say more. What a joke! I could only imagine if he had this happen to any other color equipment, why he'd sue the company and certainly never buy that brand again. Instead he will get another one in a couple of years when by his own admission he would have more done with a good 6620. I bet the Hurtts and tbran would agree with me when I say that Gleaner dealers do not have the luxury of keeping customers like JD dealers can despite equipment as poor as JD STSs.

One of the brothers will be getting a new R75 in the summer of 03. They were over talking to dad about him doing so silage for them and roy told dad that they were going back to what there dad had for combines.(he had two C2's)then the boys took over every thing orange and silver went green. colin

I agree that they are a nice machine. Of course all of them are nice when running . As a Cat tractor owner I can attest to Cats performance, reliability, etc...however they are not trouble free either. There were four new Cat combines in the area this year. One blew an engine is less than 1_2 hour. I think 3 of them are track models and the guys can't get then turned around this fall.

Hey Baron, have you been drinking too much water out of the county ditchIJ Can you get into your fields yetIJ We are taking the scenic route through the field around the damp spots.
