Combines No Breakdown Harvest

I think a combine is in the prime of it's life at 2 to 4 years (up to 1000 hrs.). I buy a 2 year old and keep it 2 more years and don't have many breakdowns (last two combine's none). Then it's time to trade.

Hey larry, have you been busy delivering new tractors and combinesIJ The only breakdown I had with a 10-year old R60 was the lens on my flashlight broke when I dropped it. last year the only breakdown was a slipping alternator belt. With this streak of bad luck I am thinking about getting a newer machine with a better flashlight. Tom in MN

I'd be willing to bet that larry would even GIVE you a new flashlight if you bought a new Gleaner from him. He might squirm a bit at the idea, and you might have to work on him a little, but I bet he'd give in if you threatened to walk out the door! We too have had a breakdown free harvest. Only hiccup was with our voltage thing but that hasn't prevented us from cutting yet. This will be the first corn harvest we've made it through with absolutly NO downtime. Once we got the accelerator roll gear problem cured early in small grain, it's been clear sailing ever since. Makes for a very pleasant, low stress harvest when things go right! Tom langan

Take it a part and put new cam kit in it and add a washer to each spring. That will stop it.
