I had that problem with our 6620. I assumed it was ears that got in the top half of the feederhouse, not sure though. Happens sometimes on 9410 also.

So you have never had any negative effects from itIJ When the drum is raised it is in a "float" position correctIJ If there gets to be a bunch of cobs that it grabs at once would that cause it to raise up and then drop back down making a banging noiseIJ That is what I am thinking.

We had the same problem, found out that the door or cover on top of the feederhouse underneath the cab had came loose. the 2 levers on each side came undone tightened back up no more banging.hope it helps.

I Have a 7720 Titan II I always leave the drum in the up position for beans, wheat, and corn never move it and it has never cause a problem. My feederhouse makes noise in corn especially when the ears are big the more noise it makes. Your feederhouse chain is on straightIJ That well bang if it gets loose and gets off a link on the drives.

Yeah its on straight and is tightened to spec. We just had the feederhouse off to do the upper shaft bearings and everything else is in order. That helps to know that it doesnt have to be changed. But like you say the bigger the ears are the noisier it is. It must just be normal. The only reason it worried me is because I am used to Massey 750's, this is our first year with the 7720. The Masseys never made a noise like that...or if they did you couldnt hear it over the noise and vibration of the rest of the machine. Thanks alot.

Did you change the sprocket on the lower feeder house shaft to the smaller oneIJIJ Seen this happen, the feeder house is driving off the larger sprocket, operator speeds up the corn head and feeder house causing the feeder conveyor chain to travel at mach 2. If you speed up the head, the feeder house drive needs to be set on the small sprocket. The larger sprocket speeds up the feeder conveyor chain for beans as you run the head at slow speed. Something to look at...
