lots of used green machinery for sale in MN, but little of anything else. Dealer lots are full of 9500_9600 combines and I suppose the next thing they will try is a tent sale at Wal-Mart or something. Tom in MN
We just had a large farm sale here in the panhandle of texas. They hold it every year and call it a harvest sale....This year was the largest ever...,fha sold a ton of stuff (rummor says 8 complete farms) plus everybody elses stuff.
Ditto here in Northwest Florida, (Jackson County). Corn here (dryland) that would usally yeild 75 to 100 bushells per ac., are being zeroed out at 3 to 5 bushells an ac. Peanuts are beging to be plowed up, a normal yeild for non irrigated peanuts would be around 3000 lbs to 4000 lbs per ac normally, folks are hoping to get 2000lbs to 3000lbs per ac, tops. Dryland peanuts... we wont talk about. I have heard of some irrigated corn that averaged 135 bushells. but with the price of irrigation and the price of corn, it aint hard to figure out where a fella stands. I hope this gets better. My grand daddy once said that the next depression would be different. In the first there was plenty of food, but no money. He said the next one we`d have plenty of money , but no food. How far from corect is heIJIJ I`m beginning to think the family farm really is dying. Bless the farmer, I was forced out in 1996, I miss it like no man will ever know.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. What are you doing nowIJ Its too bad you arent in my neck of the woods as I can use some extra help around here. Tom in MN
I am working for the Florida dept. of Corrections. It aint my favorite job, but it pays pretty well and has excellent benifits. I also work on equiment for other local farmers,,,, welding, and general mechanics. eg,,,, motors, transmissions, lifts, hydraulics etc. I also operate a Bulldozier and excavtor, pays well and is lots of fun too!
