Combines Oil leak on Variable C

It has been several years since I was into that type of repair so I cant be a lot of help but I would ask if you replaced all o-rings listed in your parts book, inside, outside and anywhere else they may be on that end of the shaft. If you didnt replace all of them at the same time I would suggest replacing all of them again in case you damaged one while disassembling and reassembling.

We made a little device to hold pulley in place and check where oil is leaking. It seems to be only outer O-ring on shaft. I switched the two O-rings and still the outer ring is leaking so it has something to do with shaft or O-ring grove in the hub. It rained for last two days so I didn't do a lot of work with the combine. I am wondering if the shaft or hub is starting to crack.

I wish I could help you but you are getting into an area that is beyond my level of expertise. I wonder why nobody else has replied unless the C in the title of your post has made everyone think you are talking about the old model C2.

Well I believe you have hit the nail on the head. I suspect you have a cracked shaft. I saw this this fall and it was on a '92 machine from outside our area. The nut on end of shaft was loose at one time or another which wore some splines and allowed outside sheave to put undo stress on shaft approx 2" from the end. This created a hairline fracture around the splines down to oil passage. I hope I'm wrong but it sounds like you've covered the other bases. Good luck
