Combines oil pressure on R52 cummins

A couple of years ago, we started noticing a slight oil leak around the crankshaft (pto end) on our 52. It was slight, so we decided to wait until we weren't right in the middle of harvest to get it fixed. Mistake! Running one afternoon and suddenly noticed oil pressure would drop when turning on headlands. Got out to check things and side of combine was drenched in oil. Ran her pretty low and not sure how long. Fixed the seal, gave her fresh oil and filter and it's been fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It seems there was some talk on here a year or two ago about Cummins popping the dipstick out - maybe someone could refresh our memory about that and how to prevent it...IJ

Murphy switch guages prevent this. Saved engines for me when oil filter gasket failed and when fan belt broke running an unattended generator. and
