I don't think you will have any problem with the diesel fuel unless you have gotten sone condensation in the tank over the years. Dad has an old MH 44 diesel tractor that had not been run much for seven or eight years. A couple of weeks ago I decided to get it running, I put new batteries in it and fired the engine up, the fuel tank was almost full of old diesel and it ran fine.
