I installed it myself, not a big deal. I also upgraded my computer to a desktop pentium 3 and transfered my old reader. But after many hours of trying to get it to work it had to be returned because the new motherboards will not support the readers Then I bought a new laptop because it has the PCMCIA slot built in, but it would not work because it had the millenium operating system, so we wiped that off and installed windows 98 and now it works fine. One way of finding out if it had the chip upgrade in the moniter is when you turn it on the first thing the screen should show is 6.02A-C I hope this helps
