looked at them pretty hard because of the price but after visiting with a lot of the farmers that are running the Geringhoffs and seeing how happy they are with the heads they are running, and seeing what the resale is on these cornheads I have decided to go with the Geringhoff. Go with the sure thing and not some johnny come lately that has no proven history or resale value. At least if you dont like the geringhoff you will get your money back in the resale due to their popularity. Everyone is looking for used Geringhoffs so you have much less risk versus the other brands that are no more that glorified lawn mowers.

I wouldn't be afraid of the Drago head. I know the guy that deals them in Iowa and have been studying them quite a bit. I think they offer a lot of features to help prevent head loss, which is probably the most difficult to reduce. The Drago head has spring loaded deck plates that adjust automatically to each stalk, so you're not trying to fit the deck plates with hydraulics. They also have longer snapping rolls which allows for a slower speed on the snapping roll reducing the impact on the deck plates so you won't get as much shatter loss. I don't know if I would call them a "glorified lawn mower", I know they are not too popular here in North America yet. But in Europe they are consider the Ferarri of corn heads. Take that for what it's worth.

Here's a web link from an article in Farm Industry News that gives a lot of the benefits of the Drago over other heads. Hope this helps. http:__farmindustrynews.com_ar_farming_enter_dragon_

Hi...Olimac Drago is an upcoming type of cornhead in Europe. In Europe are aprox. 8 Manufacturer of Cornheads. Geringhoff was a long time "the" leader. All wanted the Geringhoff. But Geringhoff was the most expensive header and the high price could not been justified with its advantages anymore- if there where longer advantages! The italian manufacturer came up in the last 15 years with very good quality headers and Geringoff had difficulties to keep the monopol and to sell their headers. Now the situation is that Geringhoff is not the leader anymore. Geringhoff set the price of theyr corn-headers at competitors level!!! It is different of each country who is the leader. But even in Germany (Geringhoff made) are the italian headers very favoured. I know a company in Germany, they sell OlIMAC Dragos to USA, new ones and used ones. Greez
