love this feature. We have had to had one of the spools changed because it was leaking and there is no o-ring kits available for it yet. IT WORKS.

Ask the guys running in Oklahoma last year who ran over their headers after the single connector did not secure the header to the feederhouse right. Two in the same region, so close together doesn't sound isolated to me.

Well, there is a very small shear pin that runs the cable, so if you try and force it you will easily shear the pin but the handle will be in place. like everything, you have to look and have a feel what you are doing. I can see it happening to someone who is rammy, but alot of things happen to guys like this. It is a great system, but anything can be screwed up.

On all combines new or old you get dirt behind the locking pins at the feederhouse bottom. If you wanted to unlock your header in the past, you had to either rattle the pins until enough dirt falls out to push them back into the unlock position or you took an airhose to blow the dirt out. But an airhose isn't always available. With the new style hookup the pins are operated through a cable from the handle above. Since John Deere never solved the decades old dirt collecting problem something has to give. On the previous combines you could help yourself by rattling the dirt out. Now you have to wait for the service truck to show up. Sheer pins break, or the hole cable. The hydraulic couplers are leaking. JD knows about it. When you call they have the partnumber ready and most dealers stock the inserts. Yes the idea is good, but the execution poor.

I've been working on a proposal for standardization of headers and how they interface with transport trailers and feederhouses (ASAE 05-5008 paper is printed on Successful Farming Machinery Talk forum). I'd be interested in getting opinions on which "latching" systems should be recommendedIJ JD single handle integrated with hose and electricalIJ CNH left side pivot handleIJ Cat lexion lateral slide handleIJ Seven categories of recommended standardization for headers 1. Transport pads size and jack stand positions along the back side of headers 2. Common tie down-points and provisions such as T-hook slots 3. Feederhouse outer frame perimeter size (width and height) and retention systems 4. Driveshaft configuration, including number of spline teeth and diameter 5. Hydraulic flow and connector configurations 6. Electrical logic and connector configurations for sensors and lighting 7. ISO standards for future centerline drive systems

The hookups work great.Haven't had any leaks or trouble with pins sticking been using them for over 2months. Keep them clean and you won't have any trouble!

Sounds like 2 guys that should look down to see if the pins went through, I think they call it double checking after the hired help! I could go on about this for along time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
